An Affordable Macbook

For those who desire an affordable Mac Laptop, this Macbook is a good solid choice.  Weighing in at only 4.5 pounds despite its 13.3 inch screen, this laptop is portable without being too small.  The CPU is a 2.0 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, and it has 2GB of RAM, upgradable to 4GB.  Decent battery life, fast wireless (up to draft-N), and the build quality we've come to expect from Apple.  Of course, the real selling point is Apple styling and Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard.

This Macbook measures 8.9" x 12.8" x 1", which is a nice handy size range.  It's not a netbook, but you need some extra size to accomodate the 13.3" screen.  The screen is glass, by the way, with an LED backlight.  This is a very nice-looking screen that we wouldn't mind starting at for hours at a time.

This Macbook has ample power for most any common task.  While there has been a lot of buzz recently concerning the i7 technology, the Core 2 Duo is an excellent chip, and much better suited for laptop use than the voltage-hungry i7. It comes with integrated nVidia graphics, so you know it'll look pretty.  The graphics memory (256MB) is shared, but this is a big step up from on-board Intel graphics

This Macbook does have the strong Aluminum unibody-style frame, which makes for a very solid feeling laptop.  It doesn't have the same "give" as some of the cheaper plastic-framed laptops.

You'll also get a reasonably fast built-in CD/DVD burner, which is nice to have.

This is by no means the top of Apple's line, but the newest Apple laptops can get very overpriced.  This is an affordable and functional addition to the Macbook line.
